Context, a critically-acclaimed international, urban tour company committed to Deep Travel is recruiting docents for our US cities. Currently operating in over 39 destinations and fifteen countries, Context organizes "walking seminars," small, in-depth, learning experiences led by our consortium of master's and Ph.D.-level scholars and experts on art, architecture, history, urban development, gastronomy and other relevant subject matter.
These tours are always in English for groups of maximum 6 participants, whom we like to refer as "intellectually curious travelers," visitors who really want to learn about the culture and history of a city. We call our guides "docents" because they aren't traditional tour guides, but professors, PhD candidates, researchers, architects, archaeologists, artists or art critics, museum professionals and educators, sociologists, urban planners, journalists, chefs, sommeliers and other professionals with a profound knowledge of their area of expertise. They work for us a few times per month in the busy season on a freelance basis.
No prior tour-guiding experience required, however, teaching experience is a plus and a passion for city and subject matter and desire to work with a team of like-minded specialists is essential.
We are looking for experts located in New York, Philadelphia, Boston, Washington, D.C., Vancouver and Montreal.
